House of Azpitia
Residential
Mala Valley ∙ Cañete ∙ Peru
Set in the arid Azpitia Valley, 90 km south of Lima, the house merges with the desert and the lush Mala River corridor. Inspired by the site's historical layers, it blends local handcrafted materials—stone, clay bricks, and a wooden lattice roof—bridging past and present. The design emphasizes openness, with a shaded terrace extending social areas into the landscape and a patterned roof filtering sunlight. The second level frames valley views, grounding the house in its environment and respecting Azpitia’s natural and cultural heritage.
