SERIES: WETLANDS
The Wetland series, woven from reed and totora fiber, explore Peru’s oldest textile technique, predating cotton and animal fibers. These fibers, originating from coastal wetlands, were first used to make textiles around 6000 B.C. in locations including Bandurria, Caral, and Chilca.
Wetlands, rich in plant species, serve as vital corridors for migratory birds traveling between the Pacific, Andes, Amazon, and polar regions. Acting as natural filters, they retain water and sustain some of the most productive ecosystems on Earth.
